Law of Reversed Effort

From : http://tow.charityfocus.org/?tid=100

There is a Law of Reversed Effort. The harder we try with the conscious will to do something, the less we shall succeed.

Proficiency and the results of proficiency come only to those who have learned the paradoxical art of doing and not doing, or combining relaxation with activity, of letting go as a person in order that the immanent and transcendent Unknown Quantity may take hold.

We cannot make ourselves understand; the most we can do is to foster a state of mind, in which understanding may come to us.

Interesting! Would this law and the improbability drive of the Hitch Hiker's Guide ... have something in common? Both relate to looking beyond the probable seen by consciousness.

When the unconscious Self comes into play the unconscious however pliable can`t perform unless the imagination takes a role & visa-versa. And when the Will is autosuggested it may accept or not.But if the Self struggle holds the conscious into play you can`t produce the desired effect. The Will would be stronger. Our thoughts can`t direct & stimulate our conscious but imagination can. By Jonathan Mace,Isle Of Wight.
